Re: What Would the Judge Say?
hmm I think the "two trees reflect the boys legs" is seeing a little too much. I think it's coincidental. If deliberate, it should be made abundantly so IMO or it looks unintentional. I do find armchair punditry ascribing motivation & vision to the photographer's image long after they ...
Re: Bokeh
It's bow (as in bow and arrow) + kuh (as in cut) isn't it? I'm surprised it needed an entire video to explain it (which I clearly haven't watched)

Ming's New Job
One of Mike's perennial favourites, Ming Thein, has just started a new job as Chief of Strategy for Hasselblad. It's a move that will delight the tiny fraction of photographers who care about high price, high end digital medium format cameras and likely pass everyone else by. https://petapixel.com/2...

Re: Memory Card Failures
So far all my fails have been physical, long after the warranty has expired. Usually the small plastic "fins" near the metal contacts snap off. One snapped off inside the camera, that was tricky to remove!

Re: What Would the Judge Say?
That might be a trickier one to clone out "distractions" :) I think it is an interesting exercise. I don't think any of the changes were needed per se - it reconfirmed to me that while the ideas taught by judges are great for basic improvements and worth considering for all images, sometim...

Re: Memory Card Failures
I must admit I'm surprised you are going to all this effort. When I have cards die I just buy new ones.

Re: What Would the Judge Say?
This topic inspired me so much I paraphrased it into a blog post and added another image, a side-by-side comparison of the original vs "tweaked" version.
