Re: Myth Busting
I have a suspicion it's two things. Dissatisfaction that canon were perceived to "not keep up with Sony" (when the differences in real times are miniscule) and a grass is greener effect. Combined, that led his falling out of love with canon and a move onto the Fuji. I very much doubt we wi...

Re: What Would the Judge Say?
I don't think Iggy's idea is that bad actually. If we apply judicious "flaw removal" does it actually make the picture better? As much as I think the learning experience that comes with club photography is useful, especially to beginners, I often think it has debatable value in improving t...

Re: Myth Busting
I'm not sure I agree with some of his assertions. He says the light gathering/noise performance is irrelevant because a smaller sensor camera with a faster lens gets just the same results as a bigger sensor with a slower lens. If that were true then an APS-C with the fast lens should be even better,...

Re: What Would the Judge Say?
highlights at the edge of the frame, black-clothed person is a contrast point that drags the eye away, person growing out of his head, a tree out of his shoulder, not enough room near his toes. A really nitpicky one might say the branches at top right. In other words all things that are utterly irre...

Re: EVF or OVF?
I'm not sure they provide much more in the way of useful info that an OVF doesn't? Aperture, shutter, iso, exposure compensation - what else changes so rapidly that you need a constant reminder of how it's set? Sometimes I think EVF's are guilty of the "we can show it, so we will" mentalit...

Re: EVF or OVF?
The EVF on the sony A7 series makes me feel like iron man but in terms of what I actually prefer to use, OVF. Yet to find an EVF that is better.

Re: Thom Hogan: The Current State of Mirrorless
He's quite critical of Fuji, especially about out-of-the-box quality issues. What is the workflow change he says is necessary/what do you do? I don't have the breadth of exposure to multiple mirrorless kit across brands as he does but for me he massively overrates Olympus and underrates Fuji. If I w...

Re: Noise Reduction
Surprised they didn't try Imagenomic noiseware pro Their conclusion is weak though, they don't actually recommend anything at all in the end. Just waffle about each one. Without properly detailed images to let us compare ourselves it's pretty pointless. This is an article about pixel-peeping so at l...
