Re-enactors from the 23rd (Hastings) Battalion, Sussex Home Guard.
Testing the equipment. No shots were fired but note the gentleman on the left - is his had is a football rattle which sounds awful like shots being fired!
A stall set up on platform five and finally, moments to themselves.

SHEFFIELD PARK STATION
"A good old-fashioned sing-song" and "The Evacuee"
While these images did reasonably well in competition (sing-song got 9½ (out of twelve)) "The Evecuee" won me the Eileen Wadley Cup in the 2016 Exhibition.

During my search for images for my "Photos of the Month" posts I found a number of years when I visited the Bluebell Railway's "Southern at War" event, traditionally staged in May. Rather than clog up my POTM thread with yet more Bluebell Railway shots I thought I'm create a separate thread.
Now, the first image was not shot on the Bluebell but on the Kent & East Sussex Railway where a similar event was being acted out. Mike Farley, Ron Barker and myself visited Tenterden a week before the Bluebell held it's event.
This gentleman is portraying a Brigadier. Whilst it's not on the Bluebell I have got shots of him previously and subsequently on the Bluebell. In fact a year later I caught up with him at Sheffield Park and presented him with a print which he was pleased to receive.
