It depends how important a warranty is to you as Canon UK is unlikely to want to have anything to do with it, but you would need to check its warranty conditions to be certain. If you don't have any problems in the first year then it will not make a lot of difference.

A lot of members use Hdew Cameras and have been very pleased with its service. It wants £425 for a white boxed lens and a three year warranty comes as standard.

There may well be 5 CCC members with the 24-105 f4 L lens. As one of these that we know off has gone down, that is 20% and even if is 10% that is not acceptable reliability from a major camera manufacturer by any standard.
However, a 3 year guarantee from HDEW puts it back on my radar although this should really be offered by Canon. Thanks Mike.

I picked up a new 24-105mm Canon F4 L lens from HDEW cameras today for £425 even though their lenses only comes with a 1 year guarantee. Only cameras come with a 3 year warranty. Half of it is paid for by a collection regarding my leaving do from KCL next week. So I have not tried it yet!
I did use the FZ1000 this morning in Beddington Park where I had fun rapid shooting a tractor that was cutting the grass as it came towards me. Some aquatic birds too but no young yet.

Hi Iggy

Sounds as though you got a good deal. I have just seen the bit in brackets in the FAQs where it says that lenses and accessories only have a 12 month warranty.
