Full Frame v Crop Sensor

Postby Mike Farley » Tue 19 Jul 2016, 09:08

An article on PetaPixel.

The main difference between the two sensor formats which the author found? Depth of field.

For me, APS-C is the sweet point, especially for the digital only mirrorless systems which have been designed from scratch around that sensor form. There used to be four of those, but Samsung dropped out leaving Sony, Fuji and Leica. It means that the size of both body and lenses can be reduced, although Sony is concentrating more on full frame these days which negates that benefit. With my DSLR system, I am carrying lenses designed for full frame which are larger than necessary simply because the manufacturers have never properly supported crop sensors.

All that said, I can live with m43 as well. And do.
