In case long term readers of this blog had not noticed, I really like the teardowns which Roger Cicala does at Lensrentals. It is fascinating to see just what is inside the gear we all use. This time, he has compared the Mk III version of Canon's 70-200 f/2.8 to its Mk II predecessor. Is there any real difference, apart from price, between the two? Well, even Canon admitted that there wasn't but Roger decided to check for himself anyway.
The easy to digest version is on DPReview:

The more original and far more comprehensive report is on the Lensrentals blog. It is worth looking at for the full details and Roger Cicala's responses to comments. If nothing else, the reprise of "Roger's Law of New Product Introduction" is a timely reminder at a time when the gear we use is going through a fundamental evolutionary change.
