When Sir Don McCullin's outstanding exhibition was on at Tate Britain a while back, I found out a lot about his life and the various escapades he got up to, particularly during his war photography days. Inevitably, in his pursuit of images, he also encountered some very harrowing scenes. No one who saw the exhibition can be in much doubt about his experiences. In many ways, though, his life does resemble a movie script and now a film is to be made about him. Starring Tom Hardy in the title role and directed by Angelina Jolie, it has much potential if handled sensitively.
