Human Vision and Colour

Postby Mike Farley » Sat 17 Aug 2013, 10:08

Colour is often an important part of our photography and even if an image is converted to mono it still has a part to play. This article is an interesting summary of how humans perceive colour and why. It does have some bearing on photography and has made me more interested in exploring the possibilities offered by LAB mode. It even explains the origins of the myth that eating carrots helps night vision. I bet that you did not know that there is a Croydon connection to this story, as the wartime air ace concerned was born and raised here.
