I did this lens a great disservice when I posted an earlier image from it. It only has one control to open the lens and set the focus, but that proved too much for me to manage. The problem is that the first focusing point from the closed position is infinity and from there it continues to the closest focussing point of 0.2m, which is furthest away. This turned out to be too counter intuitive for me and no prizes for guessing which focussing position I chose. Doh!
As this shot taken today of the Cutty Sark shows, the lens is not actually that bad a performer. Some post capture sharpening has been applied and I had to remove some purple fringing, but that was straightforward to sort out during the Raw conversion. Unless you are one of those rare people who regualrly shoot with a fisheye lens and can make its distorting effects work for you, this lens is certainly suitable for occasional use.
