It was back in the 1970s during the early days of the introduction of camera automation that I first read an article in the long defunct Photo Technique magazine edited by Jack Schofield which suggested that in the future cameras would not only do all the fidldy technical stuff for you, but also suggest the optimum composition based on the "rule of thirds". That article was somewhat tongue in cheek* as such a function would be of interest to the world in general, but not to proper photographers. Since then, I have seen the idea repeated many times and now someone might actually have made it a reality. One thing is for certain, it is designed for a camera which I doubt anyone could have envisaged forty odd years ago, let alone it being an optional add-on downloaded over the ether.
