It appears that the introduction of Photos, Apple's replacement for iPhotos and Aperture, has been delayed until April. Photos will feature both image management and editing functions, but it remains to be seen how an application bundled with OS X will fare against applications such as Lightroom which consumers have to purchase or rent separately. Given Apple's mind boggling profitability, it can easily afford to develop a fully featured competitor without adversely affecting its bottom line. Should Adobe et al be worried, or will Apple content itself with producing something which is good enough for the majority and leave more specialised functionality to others?
