I have just come across this article on the Croydon Advertiser website. It starts by saying "WHO says Croydon is a concrete jungle? Here's a selection of photos which confound the negative stereotype..." and while the images do not show urban sprawl, they do not display Croydon at its best either. Not to mention that one of the locations shown is actually outside the borough......

The images are from just a few photographers and I wonder how the paper set about obtaining them and making a selection. The question is, can you do better in portraying our home town?

That's the problem these days. Get lucky with a shot and no one believes it really happened.
Looking through the images again, I realise that there is a second location which is outside the borough. Geography does not seem to be the Advertiser's strong point.

I presume one of the shots you are referring to is the White Bear pub? Fantastic food and good beer but clearly not in Croydon. When you drive back down the road after a few hundred metres it says "you are now entering Croydon".

+1 on everything you say about the White Bear, including its location which as you say is just beyond the borough's boundary and is in Warlingham. It's an interesting old building to boot.
It is also where I took this shot, my POTD for 20 January, standing on one of the outside tables.

The other shot not taken in Croydon is the one in Crystal Palace Park, which again is just beyond the edge of the borough in Bromley.
