The Shard Sucks?

Postby Mike Farley » Wed 18 Mar 2015, 08:57

No names, of course, but I can think of at least one judge who would take exception to this image. You probably know who I mean as during the Q&A session at the Wratten Lecture the same person stated that they also objected to pictures of the London Eye. No matter how good or original the shot, it is guaranteed not to do well.

This one isn't particularly original or good though :)

Took a very similar shot myself a few weeks ago with same viewpoint from Tower Bridge. Will I ever show it at a camera club, nope :)

His site is a good resource for HDR if/when I ever use that technique.

I do like his images, in moderation, but he does err on the side of the "vomit of colour" HDR approach rather than something a little more subtle. They're mostly very pretty though.

And having had his work stolen by Peter Lik in the past means I'm firmly on his side regardless :)
