I did something like this during my PAD last year and then Davidc informed me that there is a name for I did. Before then, I had not heard of the Brenizer effect.

Though I'm sure Ryan Brenizer didn't "invent" it he was certainly in the right place at the right time to popularise it! I think it's a cool technique but I struggle to pull it off properly myself.
