Imaging Resource's Photos of the Month - November

In contrast to the LuLa's gear of the year review*, this is an example of what people are actually doing with their cameras. It turns out that everything this month was shot with a Canon or Nikon DSLR, not necessarily high end models either. The winning image was taken on a Nikon D80.

Canikon being behind the top images is not just a feature of this month's results, but an overall trend. IR comments on this in a separate article which includes brief inputs from some of the photographers about their reasons for using the gear they do.

I suspect that in the real world most people do not have the resources or inclination to be constantly updating their equipment à la Lula. Instead they simply shoot with what they have as it works well enough for them. DSLRs were there first and there is little justification to change. That's the reason why camera sales are falling overall, despite whatever innovations the manufacturers dream up.
