Hi Dave

Good to se you back.

I have not seen these flickr stats before, but as you say they are fascinating, There is a lot of work being done with older cameras, especially DSLRs where the Nikon D90 is still going strong many years after its launch despite Nikon releasing numerous better specified models since. The Canon 7D, while also an older camera, has only just been replaced so the situation is not the same. It clearly sold well and can now be picked up for a comparatively small sum compared to what it used to fetch. And where are all those full frame cameras Nikon keeps launching? I suspect that Nikon's policy of regular refreshes means that no one model builds up a significant following. More significantly for Nikon, each launch depresses the price of existing stock and people buy the cheapest available, which could be part of the reason for the inclusion of the D3100 and D5100 in the top 10 DSLRs?

And a Happy New Year to you as well. Presumably you will soon be celebrating a second new year in your part of the world?

After submitting my previous post, I found this from Thom Hogan, which ranks current cameras by US prices, which broadly reflects the position in the UK even if the exchange rate appears to be skewed by the manufacturers. Interesting to see the corroboration between the two lists.

Yes we're currently planning on being out here for at least another year, June 2016 is the earliest we could plan on returning. It all depends on if my wife gets a job really.
