I am really not sure how to answer that question. All I can really say is that I pick those sites which appeal to my combination of interests, which includes the opinions of others. I like to follow what the manufacturers are doing, so that means DPReviw of course, but Imaging Resource is useful as its remit seems to be that bit wider than DPReview's. Thom Hogan provides an insight into the state of the market and he has a number of sites covering various aspects of the industry.
My tastes do change, of course, and websites can vary according to the whims of those who produce them, but two which have ben constant are Luminous Landscape and The Online Photographer. The latter is useful for bringing items of interest to its readers' attention, although there has been less of that recently. The author, Michael Johnston, moved house recently to get larger premises and also seems to have started a new romantic relationship, both of which have diverted his attention. He does seem to be returning to his previous form and even if not back to where he was, he remains one of the best commentators about photography on the net. He has also promised to involve Ailsa McWhinnie, former edit of Black and White magazine with whom he worked several years ago, but there have been no further details since the announcement a few months ago.
