Why Do You Take Photographs?

Postby Mike Farley » Mon 07 Jan 2013, 23:42

There is a thought provoking essay at The Online Photographer, one of the best photographic blog sites around. It asks the question which I have often pondered and at one time I would have said that most people take photographs to make the best images they can. More recently I have come to realise that for many, and it is probably more than you might think, buying and using the equipment is just as important.

So what motivates you to go out there with your camera?

There is a further article by Alain Briot on the Luminous Landscape website. His list of reasons is interesting and I am sure that many will resonate with you. As he says in the article, the list is not exhaustive and you might well find that there are other factors which are additional motivations.
