Battery Management

A couple of days I went on a short street photography workshop with Matt Hart courtesy of Amateur Photographer and Fujifilm which jointly organised a promotional event. One of the tips given related to batteries:
- Always charge your battery before going out on a photography excursion, especially if you have not used it for a while. Even if you think it is fully charged, they do discharge over a period.
- If using a third party battery such as those from Ex-Pro, buy their charger as well rather than use the one supplied by the camera manufacturer. The latter are often designed to charge batteries quickly, which can rapidly degrade the performance third party batteries over a few charging cycles. Having looked at the Ex-Pro prices, a charger and battery from them will cost significantly less than a battery from the camera manufacturer.
