Creative Cloud Bug Deletes Data on Macs

Postby Mike Farley » Sun 14 Feb 2016, 07:34

The latest version of Adobe's Creative Cloud has a bug which deletes data in the root directory of Mac Computers and has been withdrawn by Adobe. There are more details at PetaPixel.

From what I can work out, Adobe has fixed the bug and the updated software is now available, but it has not incremented the version number. If you have a Mac and already installed Lightroom 6.4, it seems that you will be prompted to install the update. Needless to say, it would be advisable to apply it immediately the notification appears.

For anyone who wishes to go back to an earlier version, there is a complete set available at the link below. It will be necessary to uninstall the copy of Lightroom already on your computer before applying the version you require.

I have said it before and will say it again. This type of problem happens far too frequently with Adobe and raises serious questions about its quality control. For myself, I have stopped applying Adobe's updates unless there is a feature which I need. Even then, I prefer to wait at least a month after release if possible.

Thanks, Rose. I was thinking more along the lines that it should have been 2015.4.1. Adobe seems to have more dotdotone versions, i.e. bug fix releases where a patch has to be rushed out to fix some calamitous error or another, than would seem reasonable. May be it is trying to cut down by changing the numbering convention.
