A cautionary tale at Amateur Photographer about limited consumer rights when paying for goods with PayPal. Even if the funds are transferred from your credit card to PayPal, the usual legal protection for purchases over £100 conferred by the 1974 Consumer Credit Act does not apply. PayPal does offer its own protection scheme, but the terms are not as comprehensive as those mandated by legislation. In order to benefit from the latter, the consumer has to paythe vendor directly from their credit card account without involving any third party such as PayPal.
