Modern car security systems with remote locking are not infallible, unfortunately. One photographer found out the hard way when his gear was stolen from a parked rental car and his insurance company refused to pay out because the locks had not been forced and there was no damage. I can understand why the insurance company would wish to have this restriction as a fraud prevention measure, but it does not help those who are genuine victims of crime. The moral is not to leave anything valuable in an unattended car.
