Phase One has announced that its Capture One image management and Raw conversion software is unlikely to support either of the upcoming digital medium format cameras from Fuji and Hasselblad. The reason is that they are regarded as competitors to their own, albeit substantially more expensive, digital medium format models.
The comment in the linked article from Imaging Resource that this is an ill advised move is spot on. We are likely to see more full frame cameras which, in megapixel terms at least, will be on a par with those from Phase One. Will the company not support those, either? Like many others, I suspect, I would be unwilling to invest in software which is selective in which cameras are supported. The company which really benefits from this crass decision is Adobe.

Re: Phase One Takes Careful Aim At Own Foot
It seems that Capture One might support the new medium format Fuji GFX after all, if this report is anything to go by. Presumably, the same would also apply to the Hasselblad X1D. While this is unlikely to be of relevance to most people, Phase One would be right to promote its own cameras on their own merits rather than mistakenly trying to downgrade those of its competitors.
