State of the Mirrorless Market

Postby Mike Farley » Thu 05 Jan 2017, 09:08

For some while I have made no secret of my desire for a more compact and lighter camera system to replace my DSLR. I have used cameras from a number of the companies which produce them an recently settled on Fuji. Their cameras are far from perfect, but for me are currently the best option. Thom Hogan has just published his views of where each company is with their mirrorless offerings, which largely concur with my own thoughts.

He claims that after a period of flat sales, Olympus' volumes have started to fall. Does that have anything to do with the introduction of the ambitiously priced EM1 Mk II, I wonder? Time will tell whether an increased margin of each unit sold will make up for the decline in the overall numbers shifted.
