Just bought a new Nikon. The manual has 390 pages. Is this a record?

Must admit I've never even taken my manuals out of the box before but that sounds fairly epic

If you are comparing it to "War and Peace", then no. Not even close. The first edition of the novel had 1,225 pages.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_and_PeaceOTOH, a camera manual coming in at around a third of that does seem a lot, but in reality this is a half hearted effort by Nikon. The manual for the Canon 7D Mk II has 544 pages, for example. Surprisingly, that's only 18 pages less than the top of the range 1DX Mk II.

I did buy my camera at HDEW. A short walk from where I live, very nice people, got VAT receipt, three year warranty and £180 cheaper than any where else. There's probably an app somewhere for the manual I can stick on my phone.

Another vote from a satisfied club member for HDEW.

Correct.

Agreed, I will only use it when app-propriate!
