The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize has managed to create controversy in its 2017 competition by awarding third place to an image which breaks its own rules. Entrants are required to submit pictures of subjects who are living, but the shot in question features an android. Looking human is sufficient to qualify, apparently. Doubtless it creates publicity, but I will not be paying to see the exhibition.
