My printer will not connect to my Mac

Help please!!!
My Canon printer MG7751 will not connect to my Mac all I get is an error message saying "Printer is not connected", I have tried wireless and wired.
this forum is my last resort

If you have updated your Mac OS version you may need newer drivers:
https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma-mg7751.aspx?type=drivers&language=&os=WINDOWS%207%20(64-bit)Check the printer itself is turned on and its connection method is set to the same as the method you are trying.
In addition to wifi (wireless LAN) and ethernet (wired LAN), there is a third option - USB.
Since that's more direct than either of the network options, it has a greater chance of working (once you have appropriate drivers installed).

Why? What's wrong with Canon support?

Thank you Peter i have recently upgraded the Mac so i will try loading new drivers
