I went to The Photography Show at the NEC yesterday. A sight which I did not expect to see in the middle of a crowded exhibition was a model on a horse waiting to feature in a presentation. Granted that there was a handler and presumably the horse was used to featuring in such events. I would imagine that the model is an experienced rider as well.

My response was somewhat tongue in cheek and the use of the horse did pass off without incident so far as I am aware. Nevertheless, having such a large animal at this type of event with no barriers between it and the public could not have been entirely without risk, even with the precautions I mentioned in my initial post. Which included the scoop and rake seen in the shot.
At the beginning of the last century, my great-grandparents made the newspapers in a way they would not have wished. They were both killed in the street when the driver lost control of a horse driven Warings and Gillow van.
