If anyone has any comments on this meeting, this is your opportunity to leave your observations and suggestions here. Once we had resolved the technical issues at the start, the evening appeared to go well and the videos prompted some good debates afterwards. The revised programme for the remainder of the season is being prepared and it is likely we will do something similar again.

I think last night's meeting went very well and I enjoyed the videos and discussions. I found it all useful. I will look at some of the photographers featured in my spare time (which I have more of).
There were teething problems, but that is to be expected. This is new to all of us.
The most important aspect is the fact that we are keeping in touch with each other.
Many thanks to Mike for your hard work and patience in organising these meetings, it is greatly appreciated.

Other than the Ted Forbes video, which posed interesting questions about creativity and the value of art, not sure what the other vids were trying to achieve. I also thought videos were too long - 5mins max and, perhaps, fewer of them - and I don't know about anyone else but my playback was very slow and unsynchronised. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the format but I'm happy to go with the flow if it proves popular.

Hmmm. I am no great fan of interminably long videos, either, so they have to be really interesting to hold my attention. During my research, I was looking for ones which were between 10 - 15 minutes long; It turns out that there are very few of those and a duration of around five minutes is even more uncommon. Not counting the GAS video, we had just five with a total running time of slightly under an hour. Of those, the first one featuring Peter Turnley's Coronavirus images from New York was a little over a minute. If anyone knows of any worthwhile videos of five minutes or less, I would be interested to know for future use if we repeat this style of meeting.

It has proved to be an interesting challenge. From the realisation that we would not be able to finish the club's scheduled programme to becoming aware that modern technology offered a viable alternative, it has been quite the journey in a short period. We are finding out what works and devising alternative formats such as the one for this meeting. As much as anything, I suspect that members are enjoying the social interaction which videoconferencing offers when normal meetings are not possible.

Mike W has been an unsung hero in this. Behind the scenes, after cancelling the judges and lecturers he had originally booked, he has been quietly re-enlisting people and finding alternatives. We are now close to being able to announce a schedule for the remainder of the season. A big thank you to Mike for his efforts.

There is one final hurdle to overcome. How do we arrange a virtual barbeque to conclude the season in the traditional manner?
