..... going away on holiday and leaving the charger for the digital camera at home. Or, on one occasion, travelling abroad and forgtting the power adapter. (To my surprise and delight, the hotel in Crete had one to lend me!) It seems to be a rule that when this happens, the battery's remaining charge is in inverse proportion to the length of the stay. Something similar occurs with memory cards when left behind.

Something similar happening to me on our current holiday. We've bought a new point and shoot camera with an underwater housing for it. Even when shooting frugally with it, a mix of video and stills, with the flash forced off, it's barely lasting 90 mins!

Misery is.... seeing a turtle swimming past and the camera saying "Change the battery pack".
