This might not represent a permament move away from the company's normal tight lipped stance as it is reported that it is facing at least one class action lawsuit in the US. Since Nikon seems to have been quietly replacing shutters for a while now, it could simply have calculated that it is cheaper to make the programme public rather than get the lawyers involved.
