For many years the club has kept faith with those who wish to submit entries to competitions taken on slides. In this regard, we have been swimming against the tide and must be one of the last clubs in the country to support slide workers, with many clubs long ago having switched solely to digital for projected images. We continued to have dedicated slide competitions until the reduction both of numbers and quality meant that this was no longer tenable. Entry to the Nature and themed Master Trophy competitions was still permitted, but there have been no slides submitted in recent years. Although there were a number of slides in the most recent exhibition, the entry was much lower than for either prints or DPI.

At the 2014 AGM, the proposal to drop slides from competition was adopted. The rules will be amended so that slides will not be eligible from the start of the 2014/2015 season.

In fairness to members who might have been planning their 2014 Master Trophy entry for some time, this year's competition will be the last occasion when images on slides will be accepted.
