Eammon McCabe speaking at Beckenham

Postby Steve B » Fri 05 Jan 2018, 15:51

Beckenham Photographic Society have asked me to pass on details of their guest talk by Eammon McCabe on Wednesday 10th January. Cost is £5 on the door. Unfortunately it clashes with our club evening, but passing it on nevertheless.

Eamonn has had a career spanning four decades in photography and journalism summarised below:
•Joined The Observer in 1976 and won Sports Photographer of The Year a record four times, covering three Olympics.
•In 1985 was named News Photographer of The Year for his work at the Heysel Stadium disaster.
•1988: Fellow in Photography at the National Museum of Film, Photography and Television.
•1988: joined The Guardian as Picture Editor, winning Picture Editor of the year a record six times.
•2001: returned to freelancing, photographing mainly people in the arts for The Guardian but also for other newspapers and magazines.

He also appears regularly on radio and TV, talking about photography, and last year presented 'Britain in Focus' on BBC 4.

Venue: Middle Hall at St John's Church, Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham, BR3 3JN. Meetings begin at 8pm but the hall is open from 7.30 onwards.
