Re: Peak District weekend in autumn
Many thanks to Paul for organising this trip and guiding us to suitable locations throughout the weekend. Unfortunately the weather did its best to spoil things, but even mist and frequent lashings of rain driving in horizontally could not spoil the beauty of the landscape. It's definitely an area which will more than repay a return visit when conditions are more favourable.

I concur, Paul did a great job organising the trip and the hotel, ably supported by Keith Ash who between them due to previous visits made the trip very enjoyable. A selection of images and accounts of our exploits will be the theme of the members' evening on 6 January 2016.
Well done everyone who attended and we look forward to arranging another, perhaps to the Jurassic Coast next year.
Regards,
Tom

I agree with Mike and Tom. A huge thank you to Paul for organising this weekend and making sure we were all ok.
Also a big thank you to the whole group for the camaraderie and laughter in spite of the weather.
Graham and I are looking forward to the next trip.
Best wishes to all.

Once the main party returned to London, the weather today has been very pleasant, despite a pessimistic forecast. There has been some cloud and it looks to have set in for the rest of the day, but there has been a fair bit of sun. Not what the others wanted to hear, I know.

Re: Peak District weekend in autumn
The forecast for today was dull with occasional rain. First thing this morning it was overcast, albeit with some light in the sky, so I decided to visit some cascades/waterfalls at Wyming Brook and Padley Gorge. By the time we reached the latter the sun was out and this tree was bathed in some gorgeous light. It never did rain, although it did eventually cloud over which meant for an uneventful sunset.

We were certainly unlucky. When I checked out of the hotel this morning they told me it has been a very dry summer and autumn so far. The reservoirs are nowhere near as full as they should be at this time of year, apparently.

I would also albeit belatedly like to record my vote of thanks to Paul for the great job he did both in the selection of the accommodation and the places to visit. A very enjoyable experience, even with the weather and would encourage us to get out more.
