I picked up a leaflet on Friday and there is no mention of which species will be there, just the same information which is on the website.

Thank you everyone who has contributed towards this post. Mike has given an comprehensive list of places to visit as well as other's suggestions. I think now we might well have a platform from which we can start to do some planning.

Well cone everyone.

Thank you Mike for you clarification and comment above.

Just to bring members up to date on this topic we have as you can see above many suggestions as to places to visit which is well received.

Over the next couple of weeks I hope to formalise some meetups based primarily on these suggestions but as always happens and as intimated by Mike we actually need some members to take some of the organisation on board else it's left to the few which is not good from a club perspective.

So, towards the end of this month we will have both venues and dates for members to consider and hopefully one or more people who fancy going on an outing might also volunteer to be the primary link.

Regards, to all.

I thought that I would resurrect your list of possible trips that can be managed within one day.

Iggy

Hi Iggy

Probably Brooklands from that list. There should be plenty to see and do both inside and out, so inclement weather would not be a concern. It is also reasonably close, to the make the most of the short winter days.

Looking at that list (which I had forgotten all about), I have ticked a few off recently. Maybe Margate and Ramsgate are not at their best on dull autumnal days, which is when I went. Possibly Margate would be better when everything is open. Even the Turner Contemporary was shut. Dreamland is not as large as I had expected, but might yield a few shots. Broadstairs had some promise, but is not a full day destination on its own unless going for the Dickens Festival during the summer. There are some bays nearby which could be worth investigating. Some walking would be involved due to the location of the car parks. Flatford Mill was also a bit of a disappointment, but once again the light did not do it any favours and some of the shots I found were marred by scaffolding.

Thanks Mike.
There is a lot to see and do at Brooklands Museum.
By Car takes 40 mins - split petrol cost.
By Train, Weybridge is an hour away by train from East Croydon via Clapham Junction + 20 min walk. Much cheaper than £8.90 return with 60+ card.
Brooklands Entry Ticket is £11. Winter opening time 10am - 4 pm.
Lets see how much interest there is by reply to this forum thread.
Kind regards,
Iggy

That's the gift aid price for us old codgers. Without gift aid, entry is £10. Standard admission is £12-10 with gift aid, £11 without.

I suggest you set up a separate post with a proposed date, travel method and meeting time. A vague "suck it and see" approach on a non specific post is unlikely to garner much interest.

Hello Mike & All,
I am finding that I don't really have the time to organise Club Outings/ Meetings, as trying to arrange the weekly CCC programme is taking far longer than expected.
Is there any one who might like to take on this task, possibly a new member?
Based on the CCC questionnaire where we had greater than 50% participation, 4 to 6 away day outings a year would be popular with members.
Please reply on this forum thread.
Possible suggestions of where to visit are provided as a guide in the list below kindly provided by Mike Farley over a year ago now.
Thanks,
Iggy
