I'll try to maintain this thread as best I can, if people could let me know any dates/events I'll add them to the list. And of course if you enter please do keep us appraised of your progress!

I've added the submission deadlines rather than the dates competitions will be judged.

The Telegraph runs a weekly "Big Picture" competition with a compact camera usually available as first prize. Maybe not one to aim for, but check the theme each week and see if you have anything suitable in your portfolio! Big Picture

The Guardian runs a monthly "Been There" travel competition with a set theme - again, not worth breaking your back for but definitely worth keeping an eye on.
