Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk

That time of year is upon us again and this event is the eighth in the series. At the time of writing, there are not many walks in the UK which means that if you want to lead one there should be a fair bit of interest. Better still, the club might want to consider organising one around Croydon, which could be a good way to find potential members.

Hi Mike,
Based on something that I intend to speak about at our SGM this evening, a walk around Croydon might in the end become a very good idea. It will be interesting to see what feedback there is on this thread.
Regards,
Tom

You can count me in for the CCC Croydon Walk.
(I have visited most of CR0 and CR7 as part of my involvement in the RPS project 'Bleeding London'. It was a different street photography project rather than the usual street photography project!)

If this happens (on 3rd October) I would be up for it.

I'd be up for a group photo walk around Croydon, and have no issue with holding a route map and pointing.
I'm not sure I'd want to be solely responsible for shepherding fifty people though.
Also not sure what the Kelby site means when it asks for "Leader Qualifications"? :/

Thanks, Peter. As we could have a number of members involved, sheepdog duties can be shared provided those participating would be willing to help out. It's a good opportunity to talk to non members and maybe recruit a few people.

The information is available on
Scott's own blog:
Q. What does it take to become a Photo Walk Leader?
A. We’re looking for people who have experience leading groups, so if you’re the president of your local camera club, or a college teacher, or photography instructor, or you run a local camera store, or you’ve lead Photo Walks in your area before, so your familiar with keep a group of up to 50 people happy, safe and healthy, etc., you’re likely to get accepted fast to be a leader. We ask for your qualifications on the leader application, and that’s the type of experience we’re looking for.
I did get ~25 people from East Croydon to South Croydon for work's Christmas meal last year - nobody got lost or collided with any vehicles - but they may well want more than just that.
I'll probably go ahead and apply later anyway and see what they say. Having several club members involved will probably help, but if anyone does have the experience mentioned it might be simpler if they apply instead.

Probably a bit late now but does anyone want to sign up and be the leader for this event? Would be good to get out and see more of Croydon myself as I'm not a native.

Yikes, time really does fly when you're not watching it. :/
I've been intending to sign up, but life kept getting in the way. Went to do it now and it says Leader Registration closed on 23rd September. Bah!
I'm still happy to guide club members around town this weekend - I do have a rough route worked out, but we can also wander about wherever people prefer on the day / depending on what sort of stuff people want pictures of.
