I went with Laura to Kelsey Park yesterday, my first visit. The herons* were easily the highlight. I was surprised that at least one of the pairs had a couple of quite large chicks, which seemed early in the year for them to have grown to such a substantial size. Then there was this couple, which clearly were at the outset of their nesting season.
