My first modest attempts at imaging Jupiter using a 150-600 lens and my 550D. This is heavily cropped but otherwise SOOC. Attempts to clean it up and stack it failed, probably because of the lack of clarity.
The camera settings necessary to get this surprised me! This is ISO400 and 1/200th sec! Unfortunately at those settings the moons aren't visible, though last night all four major moons were visible at longer exposure.
Anyway, here it is - next plan is to get a shot with the Great Red Spot visible! Given one "day" on Jupiter is 9hrs I could either sit on my rooftop waiting all night or just chance my luck & get some sleep!

Re: Jupiter
Fascinating what you can achieve with relatively modest equipment. I suspect that this image is similar to what observers using early telescopes would have seen.

Personally, I think they are going in the wrong direction. Can you flip the image?
