Hmm, maybe, though I'm less convinced about the north-south divide being an actual issue. As a northerner the only time I ever invoke the disparity is when I rightfully question the manliness of southerners. I'm not sure I know anyone who actually thinks there's a tangible difference and if they did believe that enough to not come to the event, the event has probably benefitted
The event also occurred in several other countries in SEA such as India, Japan, Malaysia etc.
I suspect it's more a Canon APAC thing than anything else. Like most companies I doubt APAC talks enough to the other regions

Re: Canon Photomarathon SG
The North-South divide, apparently, is Northerners complaining that they do not have enough of what people have in the South. So we have given them the BBC. Or is it all something dreamed up by the politicians?
I had not realised that the event was held elsewhere in Asia, but when I Googled it found that it scheduled for three locations in India this year. According to the website, there were just 435 participants in that country last year. Maybe fewer numbers make the event more manageable. So not only do we pay higher prices for our equipment, we get less in return?
