After returning from the fishing village we stopped at a village to visit their market. By our standards the place was pretty rank. Fish were being gutted & cleaned on the ground (as you can see) and the whole place was swarming with flies. It must be said though it was far more fascinating than disgusting and the people were friendly and totally unfazed by us watching on. Though we stopped short of actually buying any of the skewered barbequed frog on offer

Here We Go Again... One Year In Asia 2014-2015
Re: Here We Go Again... 365 2014-2015
For the fish cleaner, although I'm happy with the mono conversion (as in I think it's a good conversion), I might repost a mono & colour version side by side. I've also spotted some mistakes so if anyone has any comments on it I'd be interested to hear them!
40. Bayon Temple
Easily one of the best temples in the Angkor complex, this was taken just after a thunderstorm. Photographically irresistible of course

Re: Here We Go Again... 365 2014-2015
Cambodia was a great holiday, short & sweet and very interesting to boot. Photographically it was very challenging though and has made me think I might need to change my lens investment priority - there were many occasions where a mid-range telephoto like a 70-200 would have been extremely useful!
I also think I wasted some portrait opportunities, partly because I was a scaredy cat, but I have an idea on how to improve this in future.
I have more images to share from Cambodia, coming soon, then hopefully we are off to Myanmar (Burma) on Saturday.
Any comments & critique are welcomed

42. By Candlelight
This old pinnacle was waiting for us at the centre of one of the temples. Really atmospheric place...
With the hole in the wall at that spot it lined up perfectly!

43. Lights Over Myanmar
Taken at 36,000ft above Myanmar during a thunderstorm. I was only hoping to get a shot of the Milky Way, the lightning strike was an added bonus!
I needed to build a cocoon of blankets and pillows to remove all the glare from the plane lights.

You certainly get some interesting shots.
It's a pity about the wing - couldn't you have asked the pilot to turn a few degrees? But then you wouldn't want to be flying out into the middle of the Indian Ocean, would you?

I think the wing is needed to add context. Without it, I doubt it would make sense why I had clouds below the Milky Way
The plane turning was the 2nd biggest problem getting the shot, any motion mucked it up But I know what you mean and our flight plan skirting the edges of the Indian Ocean was quite enough for me thank you! Especially when the pilot aborted our first takeoff just as we started accelerating to investigate a technical issue

Just to show how much camera ISO has improved, this shot was taken with my 550D in literally the best place in the world for astrophotography on a stabilized tripod.
Milky Way (partial) from Mauna Kea, Hawaii by cedarsphoto, on Flickr
iso 6400, f5/6 and 30s exposure
A much lower f-stop, granted, but iso 6400 was really pushing it back then for getting useable images! Looking back I'm not sure why I didn't use the lowest f-stop for the kit lens but hey...
Yesterday's photo was shot at iso 25,600 handheld for 3.2 seconds (albeit as supported as best I could using pillows and blankets) at f2.8. I love my 6d.
