As much an experiment with post capture processing techniques as anything else.

What did you experiment with?

I like that the stem is passing through the border, neat effect. Did you do that black & white luminosity blend thing, the one that boosts contrast?

Yes, utilising Silver Efex Pro 2. I started with the custom preset I created for infrared as that boosts highlights and suited this subject as well. I added a white border and in PS I reduced opacity, which limited the effect, turned the border grey and revealed the stem at the edge.
