PAD 23

Postby Mike Farley » Thu 24 Jan 2013, 10:32

Day 23 and a return to a favourite subject. This beech is easily the largest tree in the wood and it is so big that very little grows under its branches. Although has not yet featured in my project, I have photographed it many times previously and on this occasion I went for a different approach. When there is snow on the bushes behind it, the trunk really stands out but when I was there that snow had melted. Instead I used an infrared camera to turn the background pale and create the contrast with the tree, which looks very similar when compared to a conventional mono shot.
