I'm clearly not managing a pic each and every day but hey ho, just getting back into some sort of picure taking regime is good discipline, enjoyable (most of the time, when I'm not stressing about just getting something !), and providing me with potential images for club comps. Looking back each month I'm going to pick two images to represent that month - firstly the one which received the highest rating on Blipfoto, and secondly the image that most pleases me... for whatever reason.
So in January, the highest rated pic on Blipfoto was this one.

It does please me a lot, but the shot was pure serendipity so it wasn't as if I put loads of technique and effort into achieving it
And the one that pleases me most is this.

It was one of the first pics taken with my 16-35 lens and represents exactly the sort of image I bought this lens for. I have missed having an ultra-wide lens after I sold my Sigma 10-20 two years ago (I had to sell my APS lenses when I bought my 5D). Having researched the area around our hotel in Boa Vista before we went (I 'walked' around it via Google Earth !) I knew I wanted to get up into the dunes with the wide angle lens. I'm pleased with several of the images I took that afternoon but I keep coming back to this one for some reason.
January pic of the month

Personally I think I prefer the blue tit but it's a hard choice

The second shot is more of a photographer's image, whilst the blue tit picture has immediate visual appeal. Both are good.

It's the sort of image non photographers would neither think about taking nor give it much more than a glance.

When I showed this one to my other half he said "Shame about the footprints..." ! He couldn't understand why I'd deliberately included them !

That's what the judge will probably say as well!
