Stourhead

On the way home from Wells, Lindsay and I stopped off at Stourhead hoping to get some autumn colour. The trees were just starting to turn, but we were a few days too early for the best display. While I like the landscaped gardens, in some ways it is like shooting fish in a barrel. There are so many views that the challenge is to find something a bit different. On this occasion, sunshine was fleeting and it started to rain as were leaving, so conditions were not ideal.
This is the classic view of Stourhead, the one which you glimpse on entering. It is impossible to see it without wanting to take a shot and the sun helped by coming out momentarily.
Some early autumn colour.
This acer was at its peak for seasonal colour.
