I had a trip out to the East Sussex Coast yesterday and I managed to take these two sunset picture.

Nice ones.
Something/someone on the left-hand third might provide a competition image.

Re: Sunset...
Probably the top one. Something to counter the sun on the right third.

Re: Sunset...
There was some lovely light on Saturday evening as I was driving home from Dorset. Congratulations on being somewhere which allowed you to take advantage.
I agree with David that the top image is the stronger. The foreground interest, especially the way the light has caught the ripples in the sand, makes it stand out more. Whether it is a competition shot is another matter. Judges tend to see a lot of this type of work and can be quite blasé, unfortunately. It is worth submitting, maybe as a third image. Given that it is all a bit of a lottery, you might catch one on a night when a judge is felling receptive to a decent sunset.

Re: Sunset...
Mike, I prefer the top image myself i agree that the judge may of seen similar picture before so may enter this into the competition as my third image as you suggested.
Hope you enjoyed your trip to Dorset and managed to take some nice pictures...

Thanks, Keith. The Dorset foray was not a trip when photography would have been appropriate and I did not get the camera out much. I managed a few shots before returning home, but the light was way too harsh to make anything very much of what I found. I will not be showing them here, that's for sure.
