CROYDON at London's New Year's Day Parade

Frank kindly said:
Looking forward to your 2020 contributions!

I attended the London's New Year's Day Parade with the express purpose of covering Croydon's effort.
I got there well before 11 am and tried to locate the Croydon group while walking around in the huge start area taking a fair few images.
By the time I was informed where the Croydon Float was, I was not allowed to cross the road to get to the Croydon Float!!
A Press Card might have come in handy!

I finally made my way by tube to where the parade was to finish at Westminster.
Here, I managed to snap the Croydon Red Bus and the Steel band on a truck.
Other images were provided by the Mayor's group.

The Croydon entry did win one of the top prizes of £5000 in the Borough's Competition that went towards the Mayor's Croydon Charities.
So well worth the effort!

Croydon Mayor's Charity Extravaganza for Chinese New Year

Here is the Chinese New Year Extravaganza In Croydon organised by the Mayor of Croydon to raise funds for his 5 charities.
The Chinese Cultural Performances by various colourfully dressed dancers and solos by operatic soprano singer Beibei Wang were well received.
Some of the audience enjoyed participating in the basic moves of Kung Fu and dressing up in the dragon costume.
I enjoyed the photography under challenging conditions!

Croydon Camera Club Celebrates 130th Anniversary

The Croydon Advertiser has published our feature on pgs 24 & 25, today, Friday 13 March.
Ten images were sent to the editor hoping that she would select perhaps 5.
She selected most but not all.
Space is always tight and image sizes are adjusted to get the best fit.
I am currently trying to get the PDFs.
Regards,
Iggy

Received the PDFs Today!

Thanks Mike & Frank for your kind comments.
Much appreciated.
Thanks Tom & Mike for all your help.
Shame about the postponement of the Wratten Lecture.
I will try and put something in the online version of Croydon Advertiser.
Kind regards,
Iggy

Thanks Paul.
I am pretty pleased with it too.

The amount of text determined the height of the feature.
Good layout with so many images included was all down to the editor.
Unfortunate that the editorial staff did make a typo and also unnecessarily introduced "photo taken" into each title.

No Wratten Lecture for the time being, but still a good advert for our Croydon Camera Club.

Regards,
Iggy

Croydon Mayor & The Duke

Croydon Mayor, Humayum Kabir, did some warm up exercises at the Duke Box Gym.
This was followed by learning some of the skills of boxing from Duke McKenzie MBE.
Money raised went towards the Mayor's five charities.
