POTW 13 September 2020 - Faded Memory

Taken in the graveyard of St Nicholas Church, Godstone during a photo walk in an area which has a lot of history. Before my visit I had not realised that a large stretch of water nearby, now the Bay Pond private educational nature reserve run by Surrey Wildlife Trust, once served as a reservoir feeding the watermills used to make gunpowder. It is surprising what we can find on our doorstep.
