Day 123 and at the beginning of this project my daughter's boyfriend, who is a keen ornithologist, set me a challenge to take a portrait of a bird during the year. Some subjects were dismissed as being too easy, swans and pigeons amongst them. Later on, whilst out on a walk with him, we saw some geese and these too were added to the prohibited list. So what about gulls, Josh?

Good news and bad news. The shot has been accepted as a portrait, even if black headed gulls are nearly as "common as pigeons". The not so good news is that the new challenge is to take an image of a bird in flight. That will require something seriously large. Bird, lens or hide. ;)
