I took your advice from your "Starting in Strobism" post, investing in a Yongnuo YN560-II and some RF-603 flash triggers. This is in addtion to my Canon 550 EX which I have had for a few years. I am also waiting delivery of a softbox and umbrella, which should be here in the next day or so. The hot shoe holders you recommended, which look like solid pieces of kit made mostly from metal unlike some similarly priced plastic ones which I found, are already here.
If it all goes wrong, I shall know where to lay the blame.
